To get a Course Certificate for a course, you will need to pay a fee. For some courses, paying the fee also gives you access to other course features, like graded assignments.
Some courses on Coursera are offered for a one-time payment that lasts for 180 days. You can see how much a course costs on the course home page. Payments in some areas may include a sales tax. Sales tax will be listed on your checkout page.
Other courses are part of Specializations, which means they are available through subscription payments. When you subscribe to courses in a Specialization, you pay a fee every month which gives you access to all courses in that Specialization.
To see subscription costs and options for a course or Specialization:
- Log into your Coursera account
- Open the home page for the course or Specialization you want to see the prices for
- Click Enroll
Some users might see an option to subscribe to the entire Coursera catalog. If you subscribe to the entire Coursera catalog, you’ll be charged every month until you cancel your subscription. Subscriptions to the entire catalog give you paid access to any course you enroll in as long as your subscription is active.
Some Coursera Specializations offer subscriptions. When you subscribe to a Coursera course or Specialization, you'll be charged every month until you complete the Specialization by earning a Certificate in every course in that Specialization or cancel your subscription.
You can't use a debit card, PayPal, or a pre-paid card to pay for a subscription on Coursera. Please check our page on accepted payment methods to learn more about making payments on Coursera.
You may notice some variation in course and Specialization prices on Coursera. This is normal, as we continually adjust our offerings based on new information about the value our courses provide to learners. Prices for courses may also be different in the iOS mobile app.
To make sure that variations in price don't hurt your experience on Coursera, we're committed to the following:
Transparency. Prices are clearly displayed on our course and Specialization payment pages. You'll always pay exactly the amount you see when you enter your payment information.
Equal access. Our Financial Aid program provides support for learners, including those who might not be able to afford a course or Specialization if the price increases.
If you can't afford a fee for a course, you can apply for Financial Aid.
Payments in the Coursera mobile app
If you're using the Coursera mobile app, payments work differently.
Payments on an iOS device
When you make a purchase using the Coursera mobile app for iOS, your payment goes through your Apple iTunes account. You'll need to enter your Apple ID password.
If you make a payment in the iOS mobile app and need a refund, you need to contact Apple Support for a refund. You can read more about refunds from third-party marketplaces like Apple on our Refund Policies page.
Payments on a different mobile device
When you make a payment using the Coursera mobile app for a different device, you'll pay on the Checkout page. You can use any accepted payment method or a saved card from your account.
Refunds in the mobile app
You can't request a refund using the Coursera mobile app. If you qualify for a refund, you can request a refund using the Coursera website on a computer. If you don't have access to a computer and need to request a refund, contact Coursera.
